About Us

Attorneys Mike Farris and Susan Morgan Farris man Farris Literary Agency, Inc., which  represents fiction and non-fiction works.  They are actively seeking fiction projects (thrillers, suspense, mysteries, romance, mainstream, horror, action/adventure, literary, Christian, westerns) as well as non-fiction (how-to, self-help, law, true crime, current affairs, popular culture, women's issues, biography, history, travel, sports, politics, entertainment, spiritual and inspirational).

On the screenplay side, they are associate managers of AEI/Atchity Entertainment International in Beverly Hills, California.

The Farrises are regular presenters at writers’ conferences, including Pike’s Peak Writers Conference, The Screenwriting Conference at Santa Fe, State Bar of Texas Entertainment Law Seminar, Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc., Black Hills Writers Conference, DFW Writers Workshop, and Heart of Denver Romance Writers.

MIKE FARRIS has been a practicing attorney in Dallas, Texas, since graduating cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1983. Upon graduating in the top 10 percent of his class, and having served as an associate editor on the school's Law Review, he was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Coif. He then practiced law for fifteen years with one of the largest law firms in Dallas and was named a partner after six years. Specializing in commercial litigation, he focused on contract surety bonds, financial institution and commercial dishonesty bonds, antitrust, and state and federal securities laws.

In 1998, Mike left the law firm to pursue personal interests, primarily writing and free-lance editing. He continued to practice law, including entertainment law, on a contract basis. Mike is also a screenwriter, serving as Past President of the 100-plus-member Dallas Screenwriters Association.

His screenplays have consistently placed well in national competitions: He reached the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting in successive years; he also reached the semifinals and finals of the Chesterfield Film Company's Writers Film Project in successive years; and he reached the semifinals of the Writers Network Screenplay & Fiction Competition three times.

SUSAN MORGAN FARRIS earned a cum laude English degree, with a Communications minor,  from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas. She also served as an editor and staff writer on the campus newspaper. She then obtained a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1983. Since graduating, she has had a general, mainly civil, law practice in Dallas County. Her practice has included litigation, appellate practice, family law, corporate law, probate and estate planning. In addition to her law practice, Susan has, in the past, edited several non-fiction publications and consulted to screenwriters, novelists, and non-fiction authors. She has also taught college-level English and served as judge for a screenwriting competition. As an attorney, she has submitted manuscripts to publishers and screenplays to production companies. These submissions are the genesis of Farris Literary Agency, Inc. And she once rode an elephant, which you don't hear other agents claiming.
